Skyway West Hill schools are Renton School District 403 schools, every one of them, even though the mail on the hill goes to a Seattle address and the zip code is 98178. That single sentence resolves most of the confusion buyers bring to us about this neighborhood, and it is the starting point for understanding how assignment actually works here.

The harder question is the one underneath it. Which specific elementary, middle and high school does a given West Hill address feed into, and how do you confirm it before you write an offer? We pulled the Renton School District’s own published boundary files and tested West Hill addresses against them for this guide, rather than relying on a listing site’s school panel. What we found is worth knowing before you tour: the middle and high school answer is the same for the whole hill, and the elementary answer changes from block to block.

Which District Runs Skyway West Hill Schools?

Renton School District 403 runs Skyway West Hill schools. Not Seattle Public Schools, and not Tukwila. The West Hill sits in unincorporated King County rather than inside any city, so there is no city government here to point to, but school district boundaries were never drawn along city lines in the first place. They are their own map, and this one takes in the entire hill.

The mailing address is the thing that misleads people. Two of the three elementary schools on the hill carry Seattle addresses in their own district directory listings. Campbell Hill Elementary is at 6418 S 124th St, Seattle, WA 98178. Lakeridge Elementary is at 7400 S 115th St, Seattle, WA 98178. Both are Renton School District schools. Dimmitt Middle School, at 12320 80th Ave S, is also a Seattle 98178 address and also a Renton School District school. The postal city on a building has nothing to do with which district operates it.

This is the same pattern we walked through in our guide to whether Skyway West Hill is part of Renton for taxes and services. The answer flips depending on which service you ask about. For city government, the hill is not Renton. For schools, it is Renton, fully.

It shows up on the tax bill too. West Hill homeowners pay the identical Renton School District 403 levy of $3.44323 per $1,000 of assessed value that a homeowner inside the Renton city limits pays. What differs is everything else stacked on top of it, which is why the Skyway levy codes 4125 and 4126 total $11.47540 per $1,000 in 2026 while City of Renton levy code 2100 totals $10.57834. How Elementary Assignment Splits Three Ways on the Hill

Three elementary schools serve the West Hill, and this is where assignment gets genuinely local. The district publishes its attendance boundaries as a set of mapped areas, and when we tested West Hill locations against those published areas, the hill divided three ways rather than falling to a single school.

Bryn Mawr Elementary

Bryn Mawr Elementary sits at 8212 S 118th St, phone (425) 204-4150, and its attendance area covers the eastern side of the hill. That is the Bryn Mawr side proper, the slope running down toward Rainier Ave S and Lake Washington, and it extends south and east from there. Dimmitt Middle School’s own campus sits inside the Bryn Mawr elementary area, which gives you a rough sense of how far east it reaches.

Campbell Hill Elementary

Campbell Hill Elementary is at 6418 S 124th St, on the western side of the hill, and its area is the largest of the three. It covers the western and central mass of the West Hill, including the Renton Ave S business core through Skyway, and runs west toward the Tukwila edge and south toward the bottom of the hill.

Lakeridge Elementary

Lakeridge Elementary is at 7400 S 115th St, and its area is the least intuitive of the three. It is not a tidy circle around the school. The published boundary shows a band running through the north-central part of the hill, then widening again across a stretch of the southern hill, with Campbell Hill territory in between. If you are eyeballing a map and assuming the closest school wins, Lakeridge is the one that will catch you out.

Here is the sharpest illustration we found. Skyway Park and the Skyway Library share a campus at 12601 76th Ave S. The King County Sheriff’s West Hill storefront is at 12629 Renton Ave S. Those are two 126-block addresses a short walk apart in the middle of Skyway. On the district’s published map, the library campus falls in the Lakeridge attendance area and the storefront falls in the Campbell Hill area. A boundary runs between them.

That is the practical lesson for anyone shopping Skyway West Hill schools by elementary. The line does not follow the arterial, it does not follow the hill’s ridge, and it does not follow the block numbers. Two houses on opposite sides of the same street can feed different elementary schools, and neither address looks any different from the outside.

Why One Middle School and One High School Serve Every Address

Above fifth grade, the picture simplifies dramatically, and this is the part most buyers do not expect. Every West Hill location we tested, from the Bryn Mawr waterfront to the southern edge of the hill to the western slope above Tukwila, returned the same middle school and the same high school.

• Dimmitt Middle School, grades 6 through 8, at 12320 80th Ave S, phone (425) 204-2800. It is physically on the hill, which means West Hill middle schoolers stay in the neighborhood for those three years.
• Renton High School, at 400 S 2nd St in downtown Renton. That one is off the hill, roughly three miles down and around depending on which pocket you start from.

So the elementary question is a block-by-block question on the West Hill, and the middle and high school question is not a question at all. For a family with a rising sixth grader, that removes a variable that would matter enormously somewhere like the Renton Highlands. It also means the elementary boundary you land on is a five or six year decision, not a twelve year one.

Renton High School is being rebuilt

Worth knowing if you are buying on the hill with a child who will reach high school later this decade. Following the November 2022 school construction measure, the district is building a new Renton High School campus on the existing site. The plan is a three-story, 350,000 square foot comprehensive high school with classroom capacity for 1,600 students, projected to open in the fall of 2029. The original 1930s portion of the building stays, as does the IKEA Performing Arts Center, and the current school remains occupied throughout construction. A buyer with a kindergartner today is looking at a high school that will be new by the time that child gets there.

Where the District Line Actually Runs, and Where It Stops

The West Hill sits close to two other school districts, and knowing where the seams are matters if you are searching a wide radius or looking at listings that describe themselves loosely as Skyway.

• To the north. The Renton School District boundary runs along the top of the hill near S Ryan St in Rainier Beach, roughly where Seattle’s city limits begin. North of that line, you are in Seattle Public Schools. This is the seam that produces the persistent rumor that part of Skyway feeds Seattle schools. The line is close to the hill, but it sits above it.
• To the west. Renton School District gives way to Tukwila School District around I-5, above the Allentown area. Homes on the far western slope are worth checking rather than assuming.
• To the south and east. Renton School District continues without interruption, down the hill and across into the city of Renton itself.

We confirmed those seams two ways: against the district’s own published boundary map, and against the 2025 Census school district boundary file, which returns Renton School District for West Hill coordinates, Seattle Public Schools north of the Rainier Beach line, and Tukwila School District west of I-5. Two independent sources agreeing is the standard we hold this kind of claim to, because school data on real estate sites has been wrong about Renton neighborhoods more than once. How to Verify Skyway West Hill Schools for a Specific Address

This is the section that matters most, because everything above is a general picture and you are going to buy one specific house. Verifying Skyway West Hill schools for a real address takes about five minutes and it should happen before your offer, not after.

Start with what the district itself says. Renton School District publishes a school boundary map in Google Maps covering elementary, middle and high school areas, with a search box you can drop an address into. It is genuinely useful and it is what we used as our starting point here. But read the district’s own warning on that page carefully, because it is unusually direct: the map is likely to be accurate, it is not an official school locator, and your actual placement may differ. The district also notes that its official locator tool is currently unavailable while it works to bring that resource back for families.

That means the map is a strong first pass and not a final answer. For the final answer:

• Contact Renton School District Student Information Services at (425) 204-2333, or email rsd.registration@rentonschools.us, with the exact street address.
• Ask for the elementary, middle and high school assignment together, not just the elementary. Confirm all three even though the middle and high answers are consistent across the hill.
• Ask whether the address sits near a boundary. On the West Hill the elementary lines run through the middle of neighborhoods, so proximity to a line is real information.
• Ask whether any boundary changes are under consideration for the year your child would start. Attendance areas are adjusted periodically as enrollment shifts and buildings are replaced.
• Do not rely on the school panel in a listing or a national real estate site. Those panels are generated from third-party data and have been wrong about Renton neighborhoods in ways we have documented on this site.

One more note specific to sellers. If you are listing on the hill and you are confident about your assignment, confirming it with the district before your photos go up gives your agent something concrete to put in front of family buyers. What the Renton Innovation Zone Means for Skyway West Hill Schools

There is a district initiative that is specific to this hill, and buyers rarely hear about it. The Renton Innovation Zone grew directly out of a community effort called West Hill Now, and the district credits the Lakeridge Elementary model as the source of the strategy. Five district elementary schools participate, and three of them are the West Hill’s three: Bryn Mawr, Campbell Hill and Lakeridge, alongside Highlands and Sartori.

What it delivers on the ground is extended learning time. The district provides free after-school, Saturday and summer programming through the initiative, built around partnerships between the schools, families, community organizations and nonprofits. The district describes the Renton Innovation Zone as having been recognized nationally for that partnership work in the Skyway West Hill and Highlands communities.

We raise it because it is the kind of thing that never appears in a listing and never appears in a numeric school score, and because it is concentrated here rather than spread evenly across the district. What Sartori and the Option-School Lottery Add

Renton School District operates one option elementary school, Sartori Elementary, and entry is by lottery application rather than by address. The detail that matters for the West Hill is the eligibility rule: the application is open only to students living inside Renton School District boundaries, plus children of full-time district employees.

Because the entire West Hill is inside the district, a Skyway family is eligible to apply. A family living a few blocks north in Rainier Beach is not, because they are in Seattle Public Schools. This is one of the few places where the West Hill’s district status is a concrete advantage rather than a piece of trivia.

The application runs on an annual cycle. For the 2026 to 2027 school year the window opened November 1, 2025, and families new to the district also had to complete the district’s online registration process in the January to February window. Confirm the current year’s dates with the district directly, because the calendar moves and the lottery closes on schedule.

Bell Times and What They Do to a West Hill Morning

Bell schedules are the most underrated part of a school assignment, and on this hill they set up a three-tier morning. Renton School District runs its elementary schools on two tiers, and all three West Hill elementaries are on the earlier one.

• Bryn Mawr, Campbell Hill and Lakeridge: 8:30am to 3:10pm, delayed-start Friday 10:00am to 3:10pm, half day 8:30am to 11:30am.
• Dimmitt Middle School: 7:55am to 2:35pm, delayed-start Friday 9:25am to 2:35pm.
• Renton High School: 7:20am to 2:03pm, delayed-start Friday 8:50am to 2:03pm.

The stack is worth picturing before you buy. A household with a high schooler and an elementary student is running a 7:20 departure and an 8:30 departure from the same kitchen, with the high school one heading down off the hill toward downtown Renton and the elementary one staying on it. The delayed-start Friday shifts everything ninety minutes later on a weekly basis, which is either a gift or a scheduling problem depending on your work.

None of this changes which schools serve an address, but it changes what living there feels like on a Tuesday morning, and it is the kind of thing we would rather you know in advance than discover in September.
